I think that is right, I have not had much luck withanything really bonding well to latex paint other than latex paint.
I just finished painting cabinets with an oil based paint, these cabinets had latex over a laminate - terrible bond. I sanded them down to get almost all the old latex paint off, then I primed them with a oil based primer, then oil paint. The paint bonded quite well. Hope that helps you. |

Larry and Shine are correct you can go Latex over oil but not oil over latex. The chemicals in the oil loosens the latex. Oil really isnt oil any more it is really a chemical mix similar to a single polyurethane. Shine did the right thing sand down the latex and prime with an oil base primer.
